Sources, and which routes will carry the result
With a route catalogue running into the thousands, the practical question about a marketplace is whether what you buy there can actually be shipped. That makes category and packing the two things worth reading a source for, alongside price. Below, each marketplace is described with the route catalogue in mind.
← Back to overviewFour sources, route-aware
Taobao for depth, Weidian for first drops, 1688 for cartons, JD for speed — read here as what each one means once a route has to be found for it.
- Taobaothe deepest index, every category present
- Weidianindependents, runs sell out quietly
- 1688carton pricing, minimums enforced
- JDauthorised shops, short inland transit
Marketplace rules and route coverage move. The platforms and Sugargoo govern.
Each source, with routes in mind
Grouped by what each marketplace means once you need to find a route for it.
TaobaoEvery category at onceMillions of storefronts in one index, which is why nearly every search begins here. The spread is both the appeal and the hazard: one query returns factory-left stock and boutique runs at very different finishes, so Sugargoo opens and photographs what actually lands before it is packed.
WeidianTrend-led independentsSmall shops run by the people who design the pieces, so new drops appear here well before the big platforms carry them. Runs are short and listings disappear without warning, so stock is re-checked at the instant of purchase rather than taken from the page.
1688Carton pricingThe factory end of the same supply chain, quoted by the carton rather than by the piece. Order minimums decide everything here, so the row carries the figure up front — a unit price that only exists at fifty units is not a price for one buyer.
JDAuthorised storefrontsLicensed shops running their own inland logistics, so domestic transit is short. Worth the premium when timing is tight: if a line has a cut-off, this is the source most likely to meet it.
Reading a source for route signals
A link tells you more than its price. The host, the presence of a minimum, and the way a seller packs all point at which line will accept the parcel — read those three and the freight is usually predictable before you order.
